Replacement of three existing boilers for college
EMS have maintained the air conditioning and heating equipment for this college in Hereford for many years. We could see that, despite regular maintenance, their plant room boilers were coming to the end of their life cycle after over 12 years of operation. Damage to the heat exchangers due to the age of the equipment meant that repairs were becoming more frequent.
We understood the importance of these boilers to the college and the impact that any downtime would have to the comfort of students and staff and therefore advises the college to start to plan in the replacement of the system.
Avoiding downtime and disruption
When deciding on the new boilers we to took into consideration the potential downtime and disruption the replacement would cause to our customer. With this in mind we decided to keep to the same manufacturer, Ideal Boilers, and install industrial Magnaclean filters on each boiler.
The result
We were able to carry out this project on time with minimal disruption to the customer’s operations by making a considered choice on product and design. What is more, the college benefited from using EMS as their HVAC contractor for both maintenance and installation work as we took a long-term view on their plant room equipment allowing them time to make plans for its replacement.
Looking to the future, the college will benefit from the new plant room boiler replacement as it is easier to service and therefore cost effective in the long term. They will also be safe from disruptions and downtime.
